There are many dog poop bags that claim they are earth-friendly and compostable, but actually aren’t. They are made of bioplastics – plastics that are derived from plants, but don’t break down the same way -- and over time will decay into small pieces of plastics and potentially methane.
UK-based Adios Plastic is different. The company’s dog poop bags are made from non-genetically modified cornstarch and a fully biodegradable polymer, meaning when buried in the soil, it breaks down completely and leaves no toxic residue behind. Certified TUV HOME and industrial compostable En13432. Please reach out to your local jurisdiction for guidelines and rules.
These compostable poop bags are made from natural materials like corn starch, with no additives and best of all, no plastic. They are certified to EN13432 and TUV standard.
A used dog poop bag must be disposed in a home or industrial composter that accepts dog waste. Another option is to use a dog poop wormery and compost the dog poo for non-edible plants only. When in doubt about proper disposal, ask your local council.
Do not flush
The best way to do this is through a home composter in which you use it in your own yard. (Here is an in-depth article about how to do it) However, you can’t mix these with food scraps and plants, nor should it be used to grow food and edible plants.
For industrial composting and composting dog waste, speak to a local representative or search online for where it is and isn’t acceptable.
These can be thrown in the trash and will decompose in the landfill, but it does take more time to break down.60 per roll
When it comes to cleaning up your dog’s poop, you better hope the bags are strong and leak proof. With Beco’s thick poop bags, you are in good hands. Made of 100% post-consumer recycled material, these bags are not only eco-friendly but also sturdy.
While no bags break down in a landfill yet, bags made from recycled plastic are our best option if you are thinking of tossing them into the trash or park bins. (If you have an at-home compost system or an industrial composter that accepts dog waste, consider our compostable poop bags from Adios Plastic.)
